The tendency of the malpractice in Nepalese markets that you should know!
In general, we all go to supermarkets, grocery stores, use ride sharing, food delivery apps or travel through buses. We all are getting victimized by the unfair trade practice while using one of the services.
Normally, we go to groceries or supermarkets, buy our essentials and give them the money according to the price that we need to pay for. It's been quite few years, since they have started giving candies instead of one or two rupees change. They usually thrust a number of candies into the customer's hands with an EXCUSE that they don't have enough coins to pay them back and don't even consider whether the consumer wants them or not. That exchanged candies consists of profit too that gets back to the owner. The consumers opine that this is not what it needs to be and they should refuse to accept it. If they can give the candies in exchange of money, then why can't we pay them with the things like pen of 10rs to buy a biscuit of the same price? We consumers do not even know we have wasted a large sum of tiny exchanges daily!
The ride sharing and food delivery apps are equally responsible for this custom. If the service costs around Rs111 and we give them Rs115, they will conveniently keep the entire amount; expecting us to understand. We are transparently compelled to pay more than the actual service we have bought or used!
Despite of the digital payment systems been introduced for a safer and convenient payment, It's still not accessible in all the parts of the country like ours due to lack of proper and free internet services. What's the point of buying data packs costing more than the amount we want to save? The authorities should be concerned more to towards this matter and implement proper guidance for consumer's rights.
Maybe, I am not alone to get violated by this trivial experience of getting my preferences and needs ignored. This is not only about few penny and money that we lose, this is also about the consumer's rights that are disregarded by these business and service providing individuals and companies.
A small attempt to draw the attention towards hidden market customs in the society.
